General FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What types of tests can publiqa be used for?

Publiqa is suitable for all test levels from the module test onwards. Its strengths lie in the automation of cross-components scenarios. In addition to the main area of functional tests, load and performance tests can also be implemented very easily.

  • How can I use publiqa without programming knowledge?

Publiqa was designed from the ground up to be a tool for everyone. Publiqa therefore offers the possibility to carry out the complete test automation GUI-controlled.

  • Is it also possible to script complex scenarios?

Of course you can also script in publiqa. Publiqa was implemented in python 3 and offers the possibility to script freely in python. On the one hand, publiqa offers an extensive python API, on the other hand, you can also load and use any python libraries. To find out more, take a look at the documentation.

  • Can publiqa also be used in an IDE?

Publiqa of course offers this possibility. E.g. VSCode or Codium can be used seamlessly from publiqa. You also have the possibility to use publiqa from other IDEs by using the publiqa CLI.

  • What operating systems does publiqa run on?

Publiqa runs on all common systems. Windows >=10, Ubuntu-Linux >= 20.04 and MacOS >=11 are explicitly supported. In addition, publiqa is also provided as a Docker image.

  • How can publiqa be integrated in our CI/CD-Pipeline?

You can integrate publiqa into your CI-CD pipeline in several ways.

    Docker runner
If you are using Docker/Kubernetes Pipeline Runner, you can easily use the publiqa docker image to run your project at any time.

    Shell Runner
If you use shell runners, you can simply use the publiqa CLI to run your projects.

  • Can publiqa be integrated into an existing test automation solution?

Publiqa is highly flexible. It can execute any program and evaluate its logs and exit codes within the tests. This means that you can continue to use your existing system with publiqa during a migration.

  • Is publiqa open source or can the source code be viewed?

No. Publiqa is not open source (yet), but in particularly critical cases, such as authorisation by federal authorities or similar, access to the source code can be arranged.
